IPL Joins Religious Delegation to the Gulf

Oiled birdAs the devastating impacts of the BP Oil Disaster continue to unfold, Interfaith Power & Light’s Rev. Sally Bingham and Susan Stephenson will be traveling to the Gulf to join a group of national religious leaders from different faiths. They will gather together to bear witness to the damage caused by the BP oil disaster in the Gulf Coast, and to testify about what they have seen.

Leaders of different faiths will reflect on the moral dimension of our costly dependence on oil. The group will mourn for the loss and call for the restoration of the Gulf communities and ecosystems, and begin to envision a future based on clean energy, to help us all renew and protect creation.

They will take a boat tour of the affected region, hear from local residents, and participate in an interfaith prayer service over a three-day period from July 6-8th. The public is invited to the interfaith prayer service:
