The Rev. Canon Sally Bingham is mentioned as an eco-celebrity who could be a powerful political force in a new American Clean Energy party in this Grist.com article. Based on the model of the early 20th century Progressive Party, this ACE party would also serve as a foil for the Tea Party movement. Running candidates from both Democratic and Republican ranks who are committed to clean energy policies would be the primary goal. The three party platform planks would be:

  1. The American Permanent Fund: An endowment funded by big polluters that would allocate money each year to every American family.
  2. Clean Energy Leadership: Capital investment in global green energy industry.
  3. Green collar jobs, today: Loans and other financing to support the green retrofitting of American infrastructure and built environment.
