Anchorage Daily News: Congregations need help to go green, save green

In this opinion piece, Mary Walker, the executive director of Alaska Interfaith Power & Light, advocates for the passage of a state bill working its way through the Alaska Senate, SB 32. SB32 would appropriate $10 million for an energy efficiency and alternative energy revolving loan fund. This fund would provide loans at premium rates for Alaska’s congregations, other nonprofits and businesses. Mary Walker makes the point that cash-poor organizations such as nonprofits and congregations of all faiths may need a little extra help in order to increase their energy efficiency, thus saving money, energy and becoming better stewards of the environment.
