Communities of faith are continuing to unite against the impact of pollution, particularly as it involves those most vulnerable to its damaging health effects. A major rallying point has been against air pollution caused by coal-fired power plants. In their tireless work for creation care, national faith organizations have been standing up to defend the EPA and Clean Air Act. The North Carolina Interfaith Power & Light is at the forefront of this mission in its home state, speaking against the dangers of coal ash at public hearings. Issues surrounding air pollution have moral implications, declare people of faith: it is high time to act on our higher calling for environmental justice.
