Georgia Interfaith Power & Light is faithfully calling new congregations to energy stewardship. This article highlights the ties between energy stewardship and financial responsibility. By saving money on energy efficiency, congregations open up new opportunities to reallocate funds to their work in the wider world. GIPL’s executive director Alexis Chase says it best: “I want my tithe to go to the mission and vision of my congregation, to feed the people who need it, clothe those who need it, protect children, care for our elders and to do something significant. It is important, because I know I would rather my tithe be spent on the programs that attracted me to my faith community in the first place.”
