Nebraska Interfaith Power & Light, along with Nebraska Wildlife Federation, Bold Nebraska, the Nebraska Farmers Union, the Nebraska Sierra Club, Nebraska Audubon and Nebraskans for Peace, offered citizen training that explained the process that governs special sessions and discussed Nebraska’s legal power with regard to pipelines. “We want to try to help citizens learn the mechanics of how to be effective citizen-lobbyists and take their concerns and instructively engage with decision-makers,” said John Hansen, president of Nebraska Farmers Union. “They have a very important story to tell, but they don’t have a background of being involved in the legislative process.”
