People of faith respond to climate threats

Jun 7, 2012 | What's New

The Rev. Canon Sally G. Bingham, president of The Regeneration Project and its Interfaith Power & Light campaign, made this statement in response to today’s climate science report in the journal Nature:

This report offers stark new evidence of the impact that humans are having on Creation. Nonetheless, thousands of congregations and millions of people of faith are mobilizing a religious response to this crisis.

We love God and God calls us to love one another and be stewards of the Earth. Through energy conservation and wise public policy, Interfaith Power & Light stands ready to help all faith communities act now to save God’s Creation for our children and grandchildren, as well as for generations to come.

Rev. Bingham began The Regeneration Project as a way to deepen the connection between faith and ecology. TRP’s Interfaith Power & Light campaign now has affiliates in 39 states, and Rev. Bingham was recently honored by the Audubon Society with its 2012 Rachel Carson Award, the organization’s highest honor for women working in conservation.
