Whittier Daily News: Climate change: What’s faith got to do with it?

Jan 3, 2013 | State Press Clips

Religion and climate change are seemingly the oddest of couples. And yet, religious leaders and lay people from diverse traditions find agreement on caring for Creation.

Houses of worship in the San Gabriel Valley, from St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Whittier to Neighborhood Church in Pasadena, are taking measures to reduce their carbon footprints and educate their members about treading more lightly on planet Earth.

Throughout all of California and the rest of the country, the faith community has been working for many years to preach the gospel of good stewardship of our shared environment.

Amid theological differences, we have fostered a shared sense of purpose and urgency that unites us in solidarity with our local and global communities, especially those most vulnerable to climate change.
