It seems like everyone should like saving energy. Energy efficiency in New Mexico is a great way to save money on utility bills while caring for creation and saving resources for a livable future for the children. People of faith in all traditions are called to live in a simple and respectful manner that honors the gifts we are given and cares for the future.
We have a great opportunity in early September to help make energy efficiency an even greater reality. The U.S. Senate will be voting on SB 1392, the Energy Saving and Industrial Competitiveness Act of 2013. The proposed legislation, introduced by Sens. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, and Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., entails provisions that promote energy efficiency, reduce energy costs, and lower carbon pollution.
This bipartisan bill uses low-cost methods to reduce barriers for private-sector energy users and drive adoption of off-the-shelf efficiency technologies that will save business and consumers money, make America more energy independent, and reduce emissions. Efficiency technologies are commercially available today, can be widely deployed in every state in the nation, and pay for themselves through energy saving.
