First Anniversary Celebration!
Deepening Oneness in Spring
Help us celebrate our first anniversary of Church of the Wild!
Join us as we embark on a year-long reflection on Deepening Oneness Through the Seasons. Through this reflection, we seek to open ourselves deeply to the Divine within each of us and in the sacred landscape which we inhabit. Together we will learn spiritual and meditative practices that we can bring into our everyday lives that help us nurture and live into our unique callings as loving members of our sacred ecosystems.
This month, we will focus on the physical and spiritual transition from winter to spring, from bareness to budding and then to blooming. As we do, we will begin discovering, individually and within our community, the unique gifts we each bring to a re-imagined whole and healthy community of the earth.
Join the Drumming!
Come at 2:40 to join in the drumming to help us center and prepare for our gathering.
Spiritual Nature Walk Before Wild Church!
Join Beth before our gathering as she leads us in a casual one-hour spiritual nature walk where together we will learn about, delight in, and take wisdom from, our local sacred landscape. It’s also a great way to get to know the human members of our community!
The walk will begin promptly at 1:30 pm and will take us down a couple of hills which might be muddy and slick. The trail is very manageable with a walking stick and help from each other. We will be back in time for the 2:40 drum circle.
Please email us so we know who’s coming and we can give you meeting instructions!
Location
We’ll be gathering at Carderock Recreation Area located in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park. Carderock is a busy, public park that may be busy, but we’ve found a nook that will, we hope, be quiet and peaceful. That said, we might have some intrusions, and we will use them as an opportunity to re-center ourselves and consider this an apt metaphor for our busy lives.
There is a short five-minute walk along a dirt path to the gathering site which is mostly flat but uneven and rocky in a few areas.
Carpool/Public Transportation Encouraged
We want to live lightly and in harmony with the earth in all that we do, so please let us know if you’d like to get/give a ride and from where you are coming! We also will have a pickup at the Metro IF folks are interested. Just email Beth by noon on Saturday, April 6, if you need a lift from the Metro, need a ride or can give a ride, and we can coordinate locations.
Church of the Wild DC-VA-MD
Coming from many faith traditions, Church of the Wild gathers monthly in the Metro DC area to honor the mutual indwelling of the Divine with the Earth and all of its beings, remembering our sacred interconnection and interdependence through contemplative spiritual practices, music, and wanderings. As participants in the web of creation, we seek to be attentive to the Holy in our midst and invite one another to come home to the sacred ecological ground in which we live. This groundedness guides us to live from a place of deeper compassion, care and gratitude for all living things.
