The Rev. Dr. Benjamin Chavis, Jr. coined the phrase “environmental racism” and was central to the launch of the environmental justice movement. In an Earth Day address, Chavis will focus on how faith communities can resist those powers that would seek to rule and desecrate what is not theirs. Register now to join us for this online event at 1 pm on April 22nd.
Chavis is presently the President and CEO of the National Newspaper Publishers Association. He is the former Executive Director for the United Church of Christ’s Commission for Racial Justice.
The Rev. Traci Blackmon, who serves as the Associate General Minister of Justice & Local Church Ministries for the United Church of Christ, will introduce Chavis. The webinar is co-hosted by the Rev. Dr. Brooks Berndt, author of “Cathedral on Fire: A Church Handbook for the Climate Crisis” and the Rev. Michael Malcom of Alabama Interfaith Power & Light and the People’s Justice Council.
Sign-up now to join the webinar! Even if you can’t make its scheduled time, still sign-up, and we will send you a recording of it.
